Raul Sharma, MD FRCSC


Dr. Sharma is a neuro-ophthalmologist and a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery. Dr. Sharma attended the University of Western Ontario for his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees. His residency in ophthalmology was completed at Ottawa University. In addition to his residency, he earned a Master of Public Health in Clinical Epidemiology from the TH Chan School of  Public Health at Harvard University. His fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology was completed  at Emory University.

Dr. Sharma treats a wide range of medical, laser, and surgical conditions in his office and accepts referrals for a wide range of eye conditions. He is passionate about medical education and mentorship and has been recognized on several occasions for his commitment to teaching. As a regular contributor to the Neuro-Ophthalmology Virtual Education Library (NOVEL), he has authored numerous papers for that program. NOVEL and the Young Neuro-Ophthalmologists Committee (YONO) of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) are among his committee roles.

An avid researcher, Sharma is interested in acute retinal ischemia, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and pupillary responses as indicators of prognosis in intensive care settings. In addition to numerous presentations at national and international meetings, he has also received several research awards.
