Meet Dr. Wan
Dr. Ken Wan OD FAAO is a residency-trained optometrist with extensive training in ocular disease and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on medical optometry, including glaucoma management, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and pre- and post-operative care for ocular surgeries. Dr. Wan also provides clinical teaching to optometry interns at the University of Waterloo, contributing to the education and training of future optometrists.
He is fluent in English and Cantonese with a working proficiency in Mandarin.
Educational Background and Advanced Training
Dr. Wan earned his Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto. He then pursued a Masters of Vision Science at Toronto Western Hospital where he studied ocular blood flow for 2 years. This experience led him to pursue his Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo.
He went on to complete a residency in ocular disease at the Northeastern State University of Oklahoma, a distinction achieved by only 26% of optometrists. During his residency, Dr. Wan performed anterior segment laser procedures, provided consultations for rural hospitals and clinics and managed pre and post operative care for cataract surgeries.
Dr. Wan’s dedication to excellence is evidenced by his status as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a designation held by only 10% of optometrists in the United States.
He continues to advance his clinical expertise and is currently working towards his Diplomate in glaucoma.
