Austin Pereira, MD, MEng, FRCSC
Dr. Pereira is an Ophthalmologist practicing in the Greater Toronto Area, with a clinical focus in retina and uveitis. He received his combined Doctor of Medicine and Master of Engineering Degree from the University of Toronto. He subsequently completed his residency, followed by a clinical fellowship in medical retina and uveitis at the University of Toronto. Dr. Pereira is actively involved in clinical research to improve refractive outcomes in cataract surgery and implementing deep learning models into clinical practice to improve outcomes for patients with rare retinal and posterior uveitis disease entities. Dr. Pereira is also passionate about medical education, as demonstrated through his co-creation of OCTcases.com, the largest freely-accessible resource to help eye care professionals interpret optical coherence tomography imaging. On a personal level, Dr. Pereira is an incredibly enthusiastic and positive clinician who strives to give personalized, empathetic care to all of his patients. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Pereira is a passionate sportsman who thoroughly enjoys hockey, baseball, skiing and tennis.
