Jas Takhar, MD, FRCSC

Dr. Takhar was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area and has always been deeply connected to the community. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at York University, laying a strong academic foundation before pursuing his passion for medicine. Dr. Takhar then completed medical school at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, where he developed a global perspective on patient care.

He went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, gaining comprehensive training in the full spectrum of eye care. To further specialize, Dr. Takhar pursued a one-year fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on glaucoma management. During this fellowship, he honed advanced skills in cataract surgery, traditional glaucoma procedures like trabeculectomy and tube shunts, as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS), ensuring patients receive the most modern and effective treatment options available.

Now, Dr. Takhar is thrilled to be returning to the GTA, bringing his expertise home to serve the community that shaped him, while providing compassionate, cutting-edge eye care to patients of all ages.
